Ben’s Chili Bowl on U Street in Washington, DC, will temporarily close at midnight on Monday, July 14, 2025, for the first major repairs in over 60 years, with plans to reopen in November. The updates aim to preserve the building’s historic character, and a temporary pop-up will serve customers across the street during the closure.

Six people, including Toyia Johnson of Rockville, were found guilty in connection with a 2021 Labor Day weekend triple homicide in Washington, D.C., that left three people dead and three others injured.
