On Friday, the Frederick County Grand Jury returned seven indictments. Among those charged is Montgomery County man Tevis Denver Findlater, 27, of Silver Spring, who faces two counts of first-degree assault, four counts of second-degree assault, malicious destruction of property (valued at less than $1,000), possession and possession with intent to distribute cocaine, and six counts of violating his release conditions.
Attorney General Anthony G. Brown announced charges against five individuals for allegedly operating a human and drug trafficking organization in Howard County and surrounding areas, involving the exploitation of vulnerable women and distribution of illegal drugs. (more…)
White’s Ferry owners Chuck and Stacy Kuhn have offered to donate the ferry business and assets, valued at $4.5 million, to Loudoun County, VA after Montgomery County recently declined a similar offer, as part of their ongoing effort to reopen the historic Potomac River crossing. On April 11, officials from Maryland, Montgomery County, and the Town of Poolesville offered a $3 million financial incentive to the ferry and Virginia landing site owners to help resolve the long standing dispute and reopen the ferry, which has been closed since 2020. Hyatt Commercial has announced that popular Canadian restaurant brand Tim Hortons, a leading international coffeehouse and quick-service restaurant chain, is seeking to expand into Maryland, with ten new locations planned for Howard and Carroll Counties.
According to a report by the Washington Business Journal, Giordano’s, the Chicago-style pizza maker has signed on for its first DMV location at 600 14th St. NW. The establishment will occupy a roughly 7,000 SF space near Metro Center that’s been vacant since December 2023, when Todd English relocated his MXDC Cocina Mexicana to 1610 14th St. NW.
Beloved DC restaurant, Sticky Rice DC, has announced it will close its doors permanently after 17 years. The restaurant attributes the closing to the “pandemic, decreased foot traffic, rising food labor costs, labor costs, and the impact of Initiative 82.”
