District 3 Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) Commander Jason Cokinos announced the arrest and seizure of an illegal gun following a foot chase in Downtown Silver Spring.

Montgomery County Police are investigating a commercial burglary that occurred at approximately 2:58 a.m. on Sunday, July 7, 2024, at La Fonda Paisa Restaurant (7900blk of Georgia Ave) in Silver Spring.
Attorney General Anthony G. Brown has filed the first lawsuit by Maryland’s new Civil Rights Division against Eric Sessoms and Mt. Vernon Group, LLC, for gender-based discrimination in housing. The investigation found Sessoms subjected female tenants to severe sexual harassment, violating the Fair Housing Act and Maryland’s anti-discrimination laws.
Montgomery County Police are investigating an armed robbery of a 7-Eleven that occurred on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, in the 9900 block of Key West Ave. Detectives have released surveillance photos of the suspect and are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying them.

On Thursday night Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) 3rd District Officers (Silver Spring) were alerted by a license plate reader to a stolen vehicle entering Silver Spring from Washington DC.

According to the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office, “today in the Circuit Court for Montgomery County, MD, the Honorable Rachel McGuckian sentenced defendant, Daylon Miller, 19, of Germantown, to 25 years in prison suspend all but 15 years to serve and five years of supervised probation upon release. Judge McGuckian recommended that Miller be admitted to the Patuxent Youthful Offenders Program while incarcerated.”
According to the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office, “Today in the Circuit Court for Montgomery County, MD, the Honorable Durke Thompson sentenced defendant, Sorie Mansaray, 20, of unknown address, to 30 years in prison suspend all but 12 years to serve and five years of supervised probation upon release.” (more…)
