On August 25 at approximately 11:03 pm, Takoma Park Police responded to the area of Sligo Creek Parkway and Aspen Avenue for the report of possible shots fired. According to police, officers canvassed the area on foot for suspects, potential victims and casings with negative results. Park Police were notified and responded.

According to the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office, “Today in the Circuit Court for Montgomery County, MD, before the Honorable Cheryl McCally, a jury found defendant, Dr. James Michael Ryan, 50, of Clarksburg, guilty of second-degree depraved heart murder and involuntary manslaughter for the death of 25-year-old Sarah Harris, along with possession with the intent to distribute midazolam and distribution of ketamine and diazepam. The jury deliberated for less than three hours following a two week trial. Ryan faces up to 55 years in prison when he is sentenced. A sentencing hearing will be scheduled at a later date.

The victim, Harris, was found deceased in the home she and Ryan were renting in Clarksburg on January 26, 2022. A medical examiner determined her cause of death was ketamine, propofol and diazepam intoxication. Ryan had been supplying her with drugs, taken from his oral surgery practice, often administering them himself. Prior to their romantic involvement, Harris was Ryan’s patient who he recruited as an employee.


Per MCPD: Two 20-year-olds from Baltimore have been arrested for a commercial burglary that occurred in the early morning hours of Monday, August 21, 2023. At approximately 3:50 a.m., 2nd District officers responded to the Island Smoke Tobacco Shop in the 7900 block of Norfolk Avenue for the report of a commercial burglary.

The preliminary investigation has revealed that Nathan Stewart and Donald Pevia III forced entry into the store, stole property and then left the area on foot. An alert citizen witnessed the two suspects exit the store and was able to provide police with an accurate description of both Stewart and Pevia III.


Detectives from the 1st, 4th, 5th and 6th Districts Investigative Sections, along with detectives from Gaithersburg Police, collaborated and determined that a series of residential burglaries were committed by the same suspects. The investigation by detectives has revealed that the two suspects posed as workers wearing a reflective vest, forced entry into at least 7 homes, stole property and left the scenes.


Per MCPD: The suspect wanted for a July 5 homicide is in custody.  20-year-old Lawrence Marcellus Marshall IV  was wanted in connection with the shooting death of 40-year-old Cedric Warner and turned himself in at the Montgomery County Department of Police 6th District Station in Gaithersburg on Thursday, August 24.

Marshall IV, of Montgomery Village, allegedly shot and killed Warner on Wednesday, July 5, 2023, in the 11500 block of Lockwood Drive in Silver Spring.   Officers arrived at the scene and located Warner inside an apartment, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.


According to Montgomery County Police, there was a call for an armed robbery that was received at 9:48 p.m. 4th District officers responded to a restaurant in the 3300 block of Georgia Ave. The suspect entered the business and displayed a gun. Employees left the restaurant. No injuries were reported and the suspect is not in custody.

Montgomery County Police currently on scene investigating as an attempted armed robbery & First-Degree Assault.”


Per MCPD: Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Homicide Section are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a suspect wanted for a July murder.

20-year-old Lawrence Marcellus Marshall, IV is wanted in connection with the shooting death of 40-year-old Cedric Warner.


Per MCPD: 19-year-old Oliver Perez-Fierro, of Montgomery Village, 19-year-old Osman Maldonado, of Gaithersburg, and a 16-year-old, from Gaithersburg, have been arrested and charged with multiple firearm related charges.

On Wednesday, August 15, 2023, at approximately 7 p.m., officers from the Montgomery County Department of Police – 6th District Decentralized Community Action Team conducted a traffic stop on a Black Honda Accord in the area of Montgomery Village Ave. and Arrowhead Rd., for a traffic violation.


Montgomery County Police are continuing to investigate a “series of inappropriate touching” that occurred this spring on the Bethesda Trolley Trail. Per MCPD: Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – 2nd District Patrol Investigations Unit are investigating a series of inappropriate touching committed by a suspect who groped women in the adjacent neighborhood along the Trolley Trail located between Edson Lane and Tuckerman Lane in Bethesda. Detectives have released video of the male suspect and are urging anyone who may be a victim of an inappropriate touching by this suspect to come forward.

The investigation by detectives has revealed that on Sunday, May 21, 2023, at approximately 9:30 p.m., a female victim was walking on Nicholson Lane near the Kennedy Shriver Aquatic Center when she was approached by the suspect who was riding an electric scooter. The suspect then knocked her to the ground and groped her before she was able to escape and call police.


Per MCPD: 3rd District officers from the Montgomery County Department of Police have arrested 38-year-old Larry Goisse of Silver Spring for installing hidden cameras inside of an Airbnb bedroom that was rented by two guests on Friday, August 5, 2022. Detectives are urging anyone who may be a victim of this crime to come forward.

The investigation has revealed that a couple from Texas rented an Airbnb bedroom inside a residence in the 1100 block of Dale Drive in Silver Spring. After arriving at the location, the couple located hidden cameras inside smoke detectors in the bedroom and bathroom. The couple left the house and drove to the Target store on Cherry Hill Road in Silver Spring, where they reported the incident to the police.
