Per MCPD: Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division are investigating a home invasion robbery that occurred on Monday, July 10, 2023, on Key West Avenue in Rockville. Detectives have released surveillance video of the suspects and are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying them.  At approximately 1:25 a.m., 1st District officers responded to the location for the report of a home invasion robbery.

The investigation by detectives has revealed the adult male victim parked his vehicle in the parking garage of the apartment complex. When the victim exited his vehicle, the suspects approached him, displayed handguns and announced the robbery. The suspects then stabbed and assaulted the victim and tied his hands behind his back with zip ties. The victim was forced into the suspects’ vehicle. The victim gave the suspects access to his apartment, where they took the safe containing an undisclosed amount of cash and jewelry before fleeing the scene.


On July 10, 2023, Charles Pepper, 47 of Little Rock, was arrested and charged with Capital Murder in reference to a homicide that occurred on East 39th Street in Little Rock on the same date. The victim has been identified as Donell Peterman, 56, who is a former Montgomery County Councilmember.

Peterman was a Montgomery County Council member who was appointed in July, 2002 after Derick Berlage resigned in June of the same year to become head of the Department of Park and Planning. In a report by MoCo360, “In recent years, Peterman traveled regularly between Little Rock and Silver Spring. Peterman graduated from Morehouse College in 1989, then joined the U.S. Army. Then, he founded Joshua Group Ministries in 1996 in Takoma Park and served as senior pastor.”


According to the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office, “Today in the Circuit Court for Montgomery County, MD, the Honorable John Maloney sentenced defendant, Kyle Noble, to 60 years in prison suspend all but 50 years to serve and five years of supervised probation upon release.” Noble was convicted last month on charges of second-degree murder and armed robbery for the death and robbery of 31-year-old Efrain Arias.

This stems from an incident on September 15th 2019, when the defendant, Noble, confronted Efrain Arias as Arias exited a vehicle in the parking lot of the Extended Stay America hotel on Milestone Center Drive in Germantown. Noble chased the victim down a hill into a field near the parking lot, fatally stabbed him, then came back and robbed the dying victim of personal property. As stated by the prosecutors in court, the attack was fueled by drug-seeking behavior and a jealous rage, as the victim was a friend of the defendant’s ex-girlfriend.


Per MCPD: A juvenile male has been arrested and charged for a burglary that he committed on Monday, July 17, 2023.  At approximately 12:10 p.m., 5th District officers responded to the area of Pickering Ct., in Germantown, for the report of domestic violence in progress. The preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect, who was armed with a knife and handgun, had attempted to force entry into the home of an acquaintance and left the scene. When officers located the suspect, he ran away toward Pickering Dr., and a perimeter was established.

The suspect was later located and taken into custody in the 13000 block of Waters Landing Dr. A backpack containing a knife and an air pistol were also recovered. The suspect was transported to the 5th District station, where he has been charged with first-degree burglary and related charges.   Feature photo courtesy of Google Maps.


Montgomery County Police (MCP) say that on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at approximately 11:18 p.m., MCP officers responded to the 5400 block of Marinelli Road for the report of an assault. 

Per Montgomery County Police, “The preliminary investigation has revealed that there was an argument between the male victim and the adult male suspect. The suspect then displayed a machete and threatened the victim who then managed to enter his vehicle and leave the scene. The victim then contacted the police. Officers located the suspect close to the area where the crime occurred and took him into custody.” Featured photo courtesy of Google Maps.


Montgomery County Police are investigating a shooting that occurred on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at the parking lot of the Silver Spring Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Station at 8100 Georgia Avenue. 

According to MCPD, “At approximately 1:54 p.m., 3rd District officers responded to the Montgomery County Fire Rescue Station at 8110 Georgia Avenue for the report of a person who walked into the station, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. 


According to the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office, “Today, in the Circuit Court for Montgomery County, MD, the Honorable Kevin Hessler sentenced defendant, Jean J. Pierre, 50, of Montgomery Village, to 40 years in prison. This is the maximum penalty for second-degree murder, the charge on which the defendant was convicted by a jury.

The jury deliberated for just two hours after a five-day trial in May 2023, prosecuted by Deputy State’s Attorney Ryan Wechsler and Assistant State’s Attorney Gabe Carrera.


Upon arrival, 3rd District officers located Tyrone Howard Brown inside of a car with an apparent gunshot wound. Before coming to a stop, the victim crashed the car into several parked vehicles in the apartment complex’s parking lot.


The investigation by detectives has revealed that the three suspects entered the store and two of the suspects removed merchandise from shelves and placed them in their totes. The three suspects were stopped by an employee as they were leaving the store. The male suspect then assaulted the employee and left the scene with the other two suspects.  Detectives reviewed the surveillance footage of the store and obtained a description of the suspects.


Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes detectives are looking for a 16-year-old wanted in connection with the shooting death of a Damascus man killed on Father’s Day. Isaiah Jamael Brown-Hawkins is accused of shooting and killing 32-year-old James Joel Austin on Sunday, June 18 in the 9800 block of Bethesda Church Road in Damascus.

At approximately 9:58 p.m., 5th District officers responded to the address for calls of a shooting. Officers located the victim in the parking lot of the apartment complex with an apparent gunshot wound. Austin was pronounced dead at the scene. Brown-Hawkins drove away in a Honda that was located in Washington, DC, however Brown-Hawkins has not been found.


Montgomery County Police are investigating a homicide that occurred last night in White Oak. According to MCPD, “At approximately 11:02 p.m. on Thursday, July 13, 3rd District officers were dispatched to the 1500 block of Heather Hollow Circle for a vehicle collision.

Upon arrival, officers found several cars that had been hit and the driver of the vehicle suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.  The male driver was transported to an area hospital, where he later died. There is no suspect information at this time and no one in custody.” We will post an update when additional information is available.
