The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Maryland announced criminal complaints against Maryland men for assaulting and resisting federal officers in separate incidents in Maryland in June 2025. Both were taken into custody after physical altercations with Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers.

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at Washington Dulles International Airport intercepted 23 pounds of marijuana in the checked luggage of Octavious Lamar Dozier, 27, of Atlanta, on August 5, leading to his arrest by Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Police. U.S. District Court Judge Deborah L. Boardman sentenced Mikiyas Kefyalew, 27, of Silver Spring, Maryland, to eight years in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release, for distributing fentanyl that resulted in the death of a Bethesda, Maryland, minor in January 2022.
