Three Black Brant IX sounding rockets will be launched for the Atmospheric Perturbations around Eclipse Path (APEP) mission from NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility launch range in Virginia during the solar eclipse. The launch window is set to open on April 8, 2024, at 2:40 p.m. EDT.

April is Autism Acceptance Month, and for the second year in a row, Metro has partnered with the Autism Transit Project to highlight the special bond children with autism often have with mass transit systems. In acknowledgment of that connection, Metro invited 25 children with autism to record boarding and safety announcements that will be played throughout the Metrorail system the entire month of April.

MoCo native Stefon Diggs has been traded to the Houston Texans, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The four-time Pro Bowler grew up in Gaithersburg and attended Good Counsel High School in Olney, where he played football and ran track. He will go on to play with second-year quarterback CJ Stroud, who excelled in his first NFL season last year.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), “strong to severe thunderstorms will be possible later this afternoon into the evening, especially across areas along and south of the I-66 corridor and points westward. Main threats will be large hail, damaging winds and an isolated tornado possible.”

Tropicale Foods of Modesto, CA is voluntarily recalling 5,224 units of Helados Mexico Mini Cream Variety Pack with best by date of “MO Best By 10/11/2025”, because the mango bars in the variety pack have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. This includes bars that were sold in Maryland, Washington DC, and Virginia, according to the FDA.
