This weekend, Nov. 18 -19, Metro crews will perform critical track work and make rail adjustments on a section of track between Foggy Bottom and Clarendon/Arlington Cemetery. Due to single tracking Metro will operate significantly reduced frequencies – every 26 minutes – on the Blue and Orange lines, with Silver Line service operating between Ashburn and Ballston only.

On Monday, November 6th, immigrant rights group CASA issued a statement via social media that was deleted and followed up by a different message. In January we let you know that Poke Bros will be opening its first Maryland location in Gaithersburg’s Kentlands neighborhood. The restaurant, which opened its first location in 2016 and has since expanded to over 75 restaurants across the country, will be taking over the space that was previously home to Next Day Blinds at 107 Market St W until 2020.

“Folks living along the I-95 corridor from Washington to Boston, who saw a lack of wintry precipitation last winter, should experience quite the opposite, with lots of rain/sleet and snowstorms to contend with.”  With many local weather forecasters projecting higher than average snow, the Farmers’ Almanac Winter Outlook for 2023-2024 seems to fall in line.

Mayor Muriel Bowser issued a public emergency that she believes “will allow DC Government to respond more efficiently and urgently to two separate issues that, since the pandemic, have not only persisted, but worsened: the deadly opioid epidemic and youth violence.” In a statement released on Monday, Bowser wrote, “Although each of these urgent situations are, to some extent, geographically concentrated, the nature of the two emergencies demands city-wide responses.” The full statement can be seen below:

In summer 2021, Metro kicked off a yearlong project to replace all faregate payment cabinets across the Metrorail system with modernized units that include enhanced safety features, larger displays, and faster processing. Metro also took action to decrease fare evasion. After testing modifications to the existing faregates, they made the decision to retrofit all faregate doors to reduce fare evasion.
