Restaurant industry professionals and their allies gathered Sunday night at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center for the 42nd Annual RAMMYS Awards Gala. Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington announced winners and a range of special distinctions, celebrating excellence in long-standing categories that range from individual professional honors to accolades celebrating culinary concepts and service. The “Hottest Sandwich Shop” award went to Colada Shop, which has locations in D.C., Maryland, and Virginia.

Washington Convention Center for the 42nd Annual RAMMYS Awards Gala as Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington (RAMW) announced winners and a range of special distinctions, celebrating excellence in long-standing categories that range from individual professional honors to accolades celebrating culinary concepts and service. Silver Spring, MD restaurant Zinnia came home with the RAMMY for Best Beer Program.
Hamburger Hamlet opened its first location in West Hollywood in 1950 and later opened additional locations in the Los Angeles, Chicago, and Washington D.C. metro areas. The restaurant was started by actor Harry Lewis and his future wife Marilyn Lewis And was named for one of Shakespeare’s most famous characters.
Twenty woman-owned restaurants and other food-related retail ventures in the Washington, DC and Los Angeles areas, learned today that they will receive $5,000 grants, and potentially even more valuable mentoring and training from leaders in the industry, to help their businesses thrive.
