Restaurant industry professionals and their allies gathered Sunday night at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center for the 42nd Annual RAMMYS Awards Gala. Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington announced winners and a range of special distinctions, celebrating excellence in long-standing categories that range from individual professional honors to accolades celebrating culinary concepts and service. The “Hottest Sandwich Shop” award went to Colada Shop, which has locations in D.C., Maryland, and Virginia.

Twenty woman-owned restaurants and other food-related retail ventures in the Washington, DC and Los Angeles areas, learned today that they will receive $5,000 grants, and potentially even more valuable mentoring and training from leaders in the industry, to help their businesses thrive.  This includes Montgomery County’s very own Scratch Kitchen in Olney. Eater DC has released its list of “Hottest New Brunches to Try Around D.C.” with most restaurants on the list being in DC proper and just one from Maryland. The Maryland restaurant is none other than San Pancho Burritos, which recently opened at 7056 Carroll Ave in Takoma Park.

Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) and Baltimore/Washington International Airport (BWI) have both hit 100° as of 2pm on Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service. “This marks the fourth consecutive day with high temperatures at or above 100°, tying the record for the longest streak.”
