A Montgomery County, MD man, 23-year-old Jordan Jones of Silver Spring, was sentenced Friday for voluntary manslaughter while armed for the killing of Noel Nicol, an 18-year-old from Silver Spring, in Southeast D.C. in October, 2021.
Hootie and the Blowfish will be returning to the area with two local concerts in August. The first will be in Columbia, MD at Merriweather Post Pavilion on August 3rd followed by a show in Bristow, VA at Jiffy Lube Live on August 17th. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued an Excessive Heat Warning in effect from 11am until 8pm on Monday, July 15th.
Saturday marked the start of a return to the heat and humidity. The National Weather Service has shared that Excessive Heat Watches have been issued for Monday 11 AM-8 PM for much of the Shenandoah Valley & east of the Blue Ridge with heat indices of 105-110 degrees possible.
