Back in June we let you know that a Nike Unite store is coming to Downtown Silver Spring, taking over the location that was formerly home to DSW Designer Shoe Warehouse location at 910 Ellsworth Drive. The store has now pushed back its opening to “2023” after previously setting an opening date of November 3rd on its Google listing, which has since been scrubbed, according to a report by Source of the Spring.

An employee at the Nike Unite store told us that the pricing and products offered at a Unite store are similar to that of a Nike Factory store (often found at outlets), with a slightly different layout and a specific return section for items purchased on Nike.com. Nike describes the Nike Unite concept as:

The Copper Canyon Grill at 928 Ellsworth Dr in Silver Spring officially reopened on Tuesday, October 18.  A kitchen fire closed the location back on July 12.  In addition to the $1 million in repairs and renovations that were just completed, the restaurant has announced plans for future upgrades to its bar and the addition of a sushi station and a chef’s table. Copper Canyon has an additional MoCo location in Gaithersburg (Rio) and it’s sister restaurant the Stanford Grill has a location in Rockville.

Per Copper CanyonThe Copper Canyon Grill in Silver Spring is celebrating its Grand Reopening on Tuesday, October 18th, just in time for the holidays.  Copper Canyon Grill’s legacy as one of the more successful restaurants in Downtown Silver Spring Shopping Center will continue on.    The restaurant was temporarily closed for repairs due to a fire that occurred in an exhaust shaft in July.  Although there was very little damage to the restaurant, the owners decided to take extra time and measures to ensure that all the related systems were reengineered and rebuilt within current building codes. The company’s Director of Operations, Erick Cooper, stated that “the future safety of our guests and employees was too important to hurry through this process”.

Back in September 2021 we let you know that Kusshi, a popular sushi restaurant in Pike & Rose, would be opening a new location called Kusshi.ko in Downtown Silver Spring, taking over the location that was formerly occupied by Gusto in Downtown Silver Spring (8512 Fenton Street). The restaurant has since dropped the “ko” from its name, but the soft opening is happening now.

Co-owner Wesley Yao has told us that a soft opening discount is available if you send a direct message to @thekusshisushi_silverspring via Instagram and that @thekusshisushi and @YaoFomo will be doing giftcard giveaways.

The restaurant dropped the “ko” from its name due to approval issues with the signage and will now be going by the Kusshi name going forward. This location will have a similar, but slightly more limited, menu as Kusshi in Pike & Rose. We are told it will definitely have all of the sushi items.

Back in December we let you know that DSW (Designer Shoe Warehouse) would be closing its location at 910 Ellsworth Dr on January 22 and opening a new location in Ellsworth Place at 8661 Colesville Rd. taking over the space formerly occupied by Guitar Center. Originally expected to open on March 24th, delays didn’t make that possible. Ellsworth Place has recently announced via Instagram that DSW will be opening on August 25th, as first reported by Source of the Spring.
