Washington Sports Club, Planet Fitness, and LA Fitness have opened their doors under the guidelines established in Phase 2 of Montgomery County‘s reopening plan, which came into effect last Friday, June 19.
A plan that will close Ellsworth Drive to cars and pave it with artificial turf was heard and approved by the MoCo planning board yesterday.
Back in November we reported that Don Pollo would be coming to Downtown Silver Spring. It will be located at 905 Ellsworth Drive in the spot that was home to Noodles & Co.
The restaurant was not expected to open until well into 2020. Construction has been ongoing and though an opening date hasn’t been provided, it’s still expected to open in the coming months.
Construction has started on Silver Spring’s tallest building.
Strosniders Hardware in Downtown Silver Spring is now Silver Spring Ace Hardware
Strosniders Hardware has been in MoCo since 1953. They have locations in Bethesda, Kensington, and Potomac.
Yesterday we were able to stop by Downtown Silver Spring’s newest spot, The Eleanor, for a sneak peek of what’s to come when it opens this Monday, 2/24/20.
The Eleanor is described as “the neighborhood arcade & bowling lounge that serves honest, handmade food and local beers, craft cocktails, and great wines.“

The Eleanor, a neighborhood arcade & bowling lounge that serves “honest, handmade food and local beers, craft cocktails, and great wines” will open next Monday, 2/24 at 931 Ellsworth Drive in Downtown Silver Spring.
The Eleanor, a neighborhood ‘bowling lounge’; a comfortable, casual dining and drinking establishment with the addition of skee ball, mini bowling and other games, is opening in Downtown Silver Spring in January (931 Ellsworth Place).
Back in March we let you know of plans for Mandalay Restaurant and Cafe to move to a different location.
On Thursday, the popular Burmese restaurant announced it would be moving from its current location in Downtown Silver Spring to a new location at 7302 Georgia Avenue in Washington D.C.
MoCo’s Last Fuddruckers will close permanently (in Downtown Silver Spring) this Sunday, according to Source of the Spring.
Back in August the Rockville location closed permanently to make way for the upcoming Wegmans and redevelopment of that area.
