Wootton High School in Rockville was evacuated Monday morning after staff reported a gas smell near the building’s boiler room. Students and staff were directed out of the building around the start of the school day and moved to outdoor athletic areas as a precaution.

The Montgomery County Board of Education today accepted the superintendent’s recommended FY 2027 Capital Budget and the FY 2027–2032 Capital Improvements Program (CIP), advancing what MCPS refers to as “one of the most significant and strategically focused facility efforts in more than a decade.”
