2:46pm UPDATE from MCPD: Bethesda-Chevy Chase HS will dismiss students at the regular time. MCPD will remain on scene during dismissal.

The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) shared the following information regarding police presence at Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School at 2:29pm on Thursday: “There is currently a police presence at Bethesda Chevy Chase High School for what appears to be a swatting call at the school. MCPS has not placed the school on lockdown.”


MCPS has shared that the Auto Dealer Education Institute (ADEI) recognized 25 automotive technician apprentices, including 15 from Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS), during an Aug. 28 ceremony at Montgomery College. According to MCPS, the event brought together graduates, their families, local dealers, community partners and local representatives to celebrate the achievements of these future industry leaders. The event also welcomed a new class of apprentices beginning their training this fall.

2:24pm Update: MCPD, RCPD, Park Police responded to Rockville High School and determined that it was a swatting call. There is no validity to the report.

The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) shared the following information at 1:55pm on Wednesday afternoon. “@MCPS has placed Rockville High School on lockdown following the report of a person with a firearm near the school. RCPD and MCPD are investigating the validity of the report.

MCPS has shared that it is now using an enhanced security protocol to effectively and efficiently respond to emergency and crisis situations that may impact students, families and staff. The Standard Response Protocol (SRP) includes five directives: Hold, Secure, Lockdown, Evacuate and Shelter. More below, per MCPS:

Quince Orchard doesn’t lose games very often. That’s not hyperbole, it’s math. In the last 20 years, the Cougars have only lost 26 times. Just 12 of those came in the regular season. John Kelley, entering his 12th year at the helm, has 11 career losses. Eleven. And since raising his first state title trophy in 2018, he’s only lost twice, while stringing together one spotless regular season after another.
