VisArts (155 Gibbs St. in Rockville Town Square), a hub for artistic exploration and social impact that has been bringing people together through shared creative experiences since 1987, has announced new Board appointments and the selection of Sonal J. Mehta Verma as President of the Board of Directors. VisArts also announced it has been awarded a two-year, $300,000 grant from the Windgate Foundation to augment its Center for Craft Studies initiative.
Montgomery County native Jon Bernthal has won his first Creative Arts Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series, thanks to his performance in The Bear episode “Fishes” (clip can be seen below).

Wheaton’s newest mural on the side of a building, called “Wheaton Lives,” will be dedicated in ceremonies at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 11. The mural is on the building that houses Elbe’s Beer and Wine store (photo of the full mural below).
