Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – 6th District Investigative Section are asking for the public’s help in locating 22-year-old Alexis Cabrera, who has been reported missing.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS ) responded to a collision early Wednesday at northbound I-270 near Exit 10, where a car went off the road into the woods and split in half.
According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, crews searched the area with thermal imaging but found no occupants, and Gaithersburg Police later located the uninjured driver walking on Montgomery Village Avenue.

Montgomery Village has seen a notable 13.8% decrease in overall crime in 2025, according to Montgomery County Police 6th District Commander Brian Dillman, who shared the update at the Montgomery Village Foundation’s recent Public Safety Town Hall.

A major renovation project is officially underway at Stedwick Pool and Bathhouse in Montgomery Village. According to the Montgomery Village Foundation (MVF), construction has begun, marking the start of a complete overhaul of one of the community’s most popular summer amenities. The newly upgraded heated pool is anticipated to open in summer 2026.
Sir Walter Raleigh Inn is fondly remembered as an affordable steakhouse known for its extensive salad bar, making it a popular spot for homecoming dinners and birthday celebrations. The Montgomery Village location, now a CVS, closed in 2005, but the chain once had multiple locations across the DC Metro area, including Baltimore, Bethesda, Wheaton, and Alexandria. (more…)

Palacio De Perú has officially opened its first Montgomery County restaurant at 19222 Montgomery Village Avenue, in the Montgomery Village Center. The new eatery takes over the former Moe’s Southwest Grill space, which closed at the end of August 2024.
