Navin P. Kumar, an alumnus of Dufief Elementary School, Frost Middle School, and Wootton High School here in Montgomery County, shares his personal journey as a testament to overcoming life’s challenges. Back in December 2022, we announced that Playful Pack, a daycare and boarding facility for dogs, would be opening a new location in the Travilah Square shopping center in Rockville. We can now share that it is has opened at 10016 Darnestown Rd.
The “Welcome to North Potomac” sign, located on Muddy Branch Road just a few hundred feet before the street transitions to Dufief Mill Road, has been replaced after suffering irreparable damage from years of exposure to the elements.
Travilah Beer & Wine, which has been a longtime tenant at Travilah Square (Rockville), will be moving from its current location at 10046 Darnestown Rd to 10028 Darnestown Rd within the same shopping center (photos below).

The Potomac Horse Center (PHC) closed permanently in July, after 31 years leasing the location from Montgomery Parks (14211 Quince Orchard Rd in North Potomac). In a statement in May, Montgomery Parks wrote that the PHC, a private business, notified Montgomery Parks of its intent to end its lease. Now, Montgomery Parks is preparing the site for the future which will include the demolition of buildings on site that are beyond repair.
A Quince Orchard High School senior has created “6th Fear Haunted Trail: Out of this World,” a free haunted trail in North Potomac that runs Halloween night and the following two evenings. Visitors can enjoy a free, alien-themed experience while supporting a donation drive for Manna Food Bank with non-perishable items. (more…)
