Earlier this summer we let you know that Matan submitted Schematic Development Plan (SDP) application SDP-9759-2024 proposing to construct two buildings with up to 14,750 square feet of retail use at 715 and 725 Progress Way in the development that’s home to the relatively new Sheetz and Chick-fil-A off of 355 in Gaithersburg. Anticipated policy discussion will take place on Tuesday, September 3, 2024.

A 21-year-old Gaithersburg man is dead following a shooting in Montgomery Village. 20-year-old Oliver Alexis Perez Fierro of Montgomery Village was identified as a possible suspect and the alleged shooter. At approximately 12:15 p.m., Perez Fierro was taken into custody and transported to the Montgomery County Public Safety Headquarters. Police say a mugshot for the suspect is not available.
