During Thursday, October 16th’s Montgomery County Board of Education presentation, Chief Academic Officer Niki T. Porter and Chief of District Operations Adnan Mamoon outlined new considerations for the ongoing Crown Boundary Study, including the potential to use the planned Crown High School as a temporary holding site for other schools undergoing major renovation or reconstruction.

A major renovation project is officially underway at Stedwick Pool and Bathhouse in Montgomery Village. According to the Montgomery Village Foundation (MVF), construction has begun, marking the start of a complete overhaul of one of the community’s most popular summer amenities. The newly upgraded heated pool is anticipated to open in summer 2026.
Rowan, a piercing studio staffed by licensed nurses, is opening this week in Gaithersburg’s Downtown Crown. The new studio will be the company’s third Maryland location, joining Bethesda and Annapolis, and its 95th nationwide. A Rowan representative said the store is expected to open by this weekend.
Former FBI Supervisory Special Agent Eduardo Valdivia, 41, of Gaithersburg, was sentenced in Montgomery County Circuit Court to 80 years in prison, with all but 60 years suspended, after being convicted of multiple sex offenses involving three young women he lured to his tattoo studios under false pretenses.
