DICK’S Sporting Goods at 2 Grand Corner in Gaithersburg’s Rio Lakefront is deep into its planned conversion to DICK’S House of Sport, a next-generation concept designed to offer a fully immersive shopping and athletic experience. We first reported on the project in March, when plans for a major renovation were announced. Completion is now just a couple months away.

A Montgomery County student is taking youth development into his own hands. Poolesville High School senior Oren Hurwitz has launched SmartPlay360, a free, student-led program that blends academics with athletics to make learning fun, accessible, and engaging for children across the county.

Andy’s Pizza is set to officially open its new Kentlands location at 145 Commerce Pl. in Gaithersburg on Wednesday, November 19. The restaurant is taking over the space that was previously home to MOD Pizza, located next to Chopt.

Peterson Cos. is moving forward with its long-anticipated redevelopment vision for Rio Lakefront in Gaithersburg with Schematic Development Plan (SDP) that details how several portions of the Washingtonian Center could be reshaped over the next decade. A new Traffic Impact Study (TIS) submitted with the plan provides the most detailed look yet at what’s being proposed, including the demolition of the current Kohl’s building and the construction of multiple new residential communities around the lake.
