The Gaithersburg – Washington Grove Volunteer Fire Department has announced its Fall Open House will be held on Sunday, October 5, from 12:00pm through 4:00pm.
Sixty Vines, the restaurant brand known for its wine-on-tap system and vineyard-inspired dining, will officially open its first Maryland location on Monday, October 13th at 212 Ellington Boulevard in Downtown Crown, Gaithersburg (sneak peek video below). The restaurant will be located in the space previously occupied by Old Town Pour House.
The Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) reports ridership on the Great Seneca Transit Network has doubled to more than 1,000 daily riders since its launch in September 2024, as the express “Pink” and “Lime” bus routes mark their one-year anniversary. The upgraded service has contributed to a 70% increase in bus ridership along Shady Grove Road and is part of a broader plan to expand transit connections across the county. (more…)

Levita Almuete Ferrer, 65, of Montgomery Village, Md., was sentenced today in U.S. District Court to 12 months and one day in prison for embezzling more than $650,000 from the U.S. State Department over a two-year period, using the funds to fuel her gambling addiction, announced U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro.

In August we let you know that Taco Bar El Güero, the longtime Gaithersburg favorite known for its gas station origins, is preparing to relocate across the street to Downtown Crown this fall. The family-owned restaurant, which has been serving the community since 2003 and was recently on Yelp’s national list of “10 Don’t-Miss Gas Station Restaurants 2025”, will hold a liquor license hearing on October 2, with plans to complete the move later that month.
Montgomery County’s Ride On Bus Route 56 has resumed normal service following the end of a construction detour in Gaithersburg, while the county’s zero-fare policy for all Ride On services remains in effect. (more…)
A Gaithersburg man has been arrested in Culpeper County, Virginia, in connection with what authorities describe as an elaborate scheme targeting elderly victims.
Signage is now up for The Crêpe Shoppe at 202 Ellington Blvd in Gaithersburg’s Downtown Crown. The Gaithersburg-based business, already a staple at several local farmers markets, is preparing to open its first brick-and-mortar location. (more…)
