The communities of Kentlands and Lakelands are once again preparing to host their most anticipated annual event: the 32nd Kentlands/Lakelands 5K Run, Walk, and Kid’s Fun Runs, which take place on Saturday, August 30th starting at 8am. This flagship event, serving as the Kentlands Community Foundation’s largest fundraiser, is set to draw over 1,300 participants and an impressive 4,000 attendees to the area, making it Montgomery County’s largest 5K road race.

9:02am Update: All lanes of southbound I-270 prior to Watkins Mill Rd have reopened. Expect residual delays.

A significant traffic incident occurred on southbound Interstate 270 between Watkins Mill Road and Montgomery Village Avenue early this morning. At approximately 6:57am, Pete Piringer, the Chief spokesperson for the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS), reported a collision involving five vehicles.


Sunday night was filled with laughter, gasps, and outright amazement as Maximum Magic Shop (currently located in Potomac) put on an unforgettable show at Give a Hoot Comedy Club in Gaithersburg. The event featured a lineup of local magicians from across the DMV area, leaving the audience thoroughly entertained and, for a couple attendees, literally hypnotized (video below).

Maryland Attorney General Anthony G. Brown announced that no charges will be filed against Gaithersburg police officers involved in the  December 24, 2024, in-custody death of Marvin Salamanca Garcia after an investigation concluded the officers did not commit a crime under state law. (more…)
