Flags for Our Heroes, featuring a giant display of American flags, returns to the lawn at Bohrer Park at Summit Hall Farm in Gaithersburg on Friday, May 23 through Monday, May 26. A formal opening ceremony will take place on Saturday, May 24 at 11 a.m. There will be a flag retirement ceremony on Sunday, May 25 at 6:30 p.m.

A pedestrian was struck and killed this morning on Watkins Mill Rd, according to the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD).
A Gaithersburg man has been sentenced to life in prison, suspending all but 30 years to serve, followed by five years of supervised probation for his role in a fatal 2022 drive-by shooting and a separate 2022 assault, with a recommendation for admission to the Patuxent Youthful Offender program. In December, we let you know that Sixty Vines– the restaurant known for its revolutionary wine on-tap program and vineyard-inspired cuisine, is making its move into Maryland with a Gaithersburg location. The location is now under construction with signage up in the windows (photos below).
Andy’s Pizza is opening a new location at 145 Commerce Square Place in Gaithersburg’s Kentlands neighborhood, taking over the space formerly occupied by MOD Pizza, which closed in March 2024. A representative from Andy’s noted, “The opening is a long way off, so we do not even have a date at this time. Ice Cream Worx is coming soon to 20215 Goshen Rd in Gaithersburg, taking over the former New Fashion Nails space in the Goshen Oaks shopping center.
The Gaithersburg Police Department has issued a notice regarding several upcoming road closures due to major rail construction work by CSX.
“Coming Soon” signage is now up for Burlington at 19142 Montgomery Village Avenue, in the Montgomery Village Center. The new store will replace Big Lots, which permanently closed in March 2025. (more…)
