This past summer we shared that two Maryland restaurants (the top two) were included in a list of the “Best Crab Cakes in the U.S.” by Food & Wine magazine. As with any list, there were plenty who agree and plenty with differing opinions, and since we are still receiving comments nearly half a year later– today we look at some of the reader submitted comments about other places.

Eater DC has released its list of “The 18 Best Coffee Shops Around D.C.” and though there are many great coffee shops in the area, it includes just one coffee shop in Maryland– Montgomery County’s very own Takoma Beverage Company (Takoma Bev Co. 6917 Laurel Ave. Takoma Park, MD).

Earlier this week, Maryland-National Capital Park Police announced they arrested 76-year-old Steven Eisen of Silver Spring on charges of indecent exposure and possession of child pornography following an intensive investigation. Eisen was previously arrested for indecent exposure by Montgomery County Police in August 2021 and by Park Police in February of this year and a man of the same name and age was named as a suspect in at least 30 similar incidents back in the 90s, according to the Washington Post.

Earlier this week, we reported that Maryland Attorney General Anthony Brown issued a cease-and-desist letter to the Center for Voter Information/Voter Participation Center, ordering it to stop sending intimidating letters to Maryland voters threatening to disclose their voting status to neighbors, which violates state and federal laws. On Friday, the Attorney General’s Office received assurances from the CVI/VPC that it will cease all mailings referencing voter participation and will not publicize any voter-specific data.

Niche has released its “2025 Best Public Elementary Schools” rankings based on “rigorous analysis of key statistics and millions of reviews from students and parents using data from the U.S. Department of Education. Ranking factors include state test scores, student-teacher ratio, student diversity, teacher quality, grade school ratings, and the overall quality of the school district.” The top 25 public elementary schools in the state of Maryland, according to their list, can be seen below:

According to the Maryland Police, the Maryland Car Rally Task Force, in collaboration with local police, disrupted six unlawful exhibition driving events across Prince George’s and Anne Arundel counties on Saturday night, resulting in multiple arrests and the recovery of a stolen Chevrolet Corvette.
