Update: According to Montgomery County Police, “On Monday, October 23, 2023, at approximately 12:05 p.m., 3rd District officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the area of Columbia Pike and Blackburn Rd. for the report of a traffic collision involving two vehicles.  The preliminary investigation has determined that a white Ford Escape and a black Toyota Corolla collided in the intersection of southbound Columbia Pike and Blackburn Rd. The adult female passenger, of the Toyota, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The drivers of both vehicles were transported to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.  The Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating this fatality. More information will be released when it becomes available, including the name of the deceased, following proper notification of next of kin.”


Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) and Montgomery County Police responded to a collision involving a school bus and a pedestrian on Thursday, October 19 in Silver Spring.

According to police, “At approximately 3:54 p.m., MCP officers responded to the area of East West Hwy and Grubb Rd. for the report of a collision. The preliminary investigation has revealed that a school bus struck an adult male pedestrian who was transported to an area hospital in critical condition. A child inside the school bus sustained minor injuries and was transported to an area hospital.” We will provide an update if additional information becomes available.


Per Montgomery County Police: “The following is a brief summary of events regarding a collision involving a Montgomery County Police Officer. At approximately 3:48 a.m., Montgomery County Police officers were attempting to stop the driver of a vehicle believed to be driving under the influence on I-270 NB near Watkins Mill.

A male officer exited his patrol car to deploy stop sticks, used to deflate tires of suspect vehicles on the roadway. As the officer was in the process of deploying the stop sticks, the driver of the suspect vehicle collided with the officer. The suspect vehicle continued northbound on I-270, where a second officer successfully deployed stop sticks, eventually bringing the vehicle to a stop.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to the 27,100 block of Ridge Rd., between Woodfield Road & Gue Rd., in Damascus for the report of a collision involving a vehicle into a utility pole. Ridge Rd is currently closed at Woodfield Rd. According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, “lanes are blocked by downed pole and wires, road will be closed to large vehicles, likely, i.e. School buses, delivery trucks, etc..”

Drivers are advised to seek an alternate route and to expect significant delays. We will post an update if additional information becomes available.


Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) and Montgomery County Police responded to a collision involving a pedestrian on Tuesday, October 17. According to police, “MCPD responded to the 900 block of University Blvd. for the report of a collision involving a pedestrian. The driver of the striking vehicle remained on scene. An adult male was transported to an area hospital with minor injuries. This is an ongoing investigation.”

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a fire on the 10800 block of Brink Rd., near Leaman Ln. in Germantown at approximately 1:30am. Crews were dispatched for a house/vehicle fire, but instead encountered an arcing power line down with the fire not extending to the home.

We are told the power line went down after a vehicle was rear ended. That person alerted the homeowners and called 911. There were no injuries. The homeowner has provided us with the video below:


Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a call for a collision involving one vehicle on Josiah Henson Pkwy between Montrose Rd. And Executive Blvd at approximately 5:30pm on Saturday evening.

According to MCFRS Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer, the crash caused the driver of the vehicle to be trapped inside after striking a utility pole. Crews were able to extricate the driver who was transported to the hospital with priority 2 trauma (serious, but not life-threatening injuries). Some lanes remained blocked as of 7:15pm.


A driving lesson didn’t go as planned in Kensington on Saturday afternoon, as we are told a teen drove off the side of a parking garage during a driving lesson with an adult. The incident occurred on the 10600 block of Nash Place, off of Plyers Mill Rd, in Kensington shortly after 3pm. Luckily for both vehicle occupants, there were no injuries sustained.

According to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer, a single vehicle rolled over/off barrier of the parking garage (about a 10′ drop) which is located behind a house on Nash Pl.” The vehicle ended up getting wedged between the backyard of the home and a wall. Both occupants were assisted in getting out of the vehicle and evaluated by EMS. No injuries were sustained.
