The Montgomery County Police Department is marking the 50th anniversary of the unsolved 1975 murder of 15-year-old Kathy Beatty, who was found unconscious and sexually assaulted in a wooded area behind the former K-Mart in Aspen Hill, later dying from her injuries.
Detectives with the Montgomery County Police Financial Crimes Section arrested 31-year-old Charles Horlesen of Kissimmee, Florida, on Wednesday, July 23 in Queen Anne’s County, Maryland, for allegedly defrauding an elderly Montgomery County woman out of $20,000 through a tech support scam. (more…)

The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) issued a traffic advisory at 7:08 p.m. following an incident involving a pedestrian at the intersection of Spring Street and Colesville Road. A Montgomery County jury found 77-year-old Patrick Estrella of Clarksburg guilty on two counts of sex abuse of a minor and two counts of third-degree sex offense for sexually assaulting two girls, eight and nine years old, with sentencing set for October and a potential sentence of up to 70 years in prison.
