On Wednesday evening, at approximately 9 PM, officers from the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) 4D Specialized Unit observed a suspect attempting to open vehicle doors near the intersection of Amherst Avenue and University Boulevard in Wheaton, according to a social media post by District 4 Commander David Smith.

Montgomery County is increasing the 2025 Voluntary Rent Guideline (VRG) to 3.3 percent, up from 2.6 percent in 2024, to reflect changes in the rental component of the Consumer Price Index. While the guideline is voluntary for most rental properties, it is mandatory for units under the Moderately Priced Dwelling Unit (MPDU) program and other regulatory agreements.
