Update: According to Montgomery County Police, “The investigation has revealed that a vehicle collided with a wooden light pole. A 17-year-old female sustained life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Two 17-year-old occupants, a male and a female, have been transported to an area hospital in critical condition.”
A reported electrical fire has closed a portion of MD 108 / Olney Laytonsville Rd on Friday afternoon.

Back in March 2023 we let you know that the 100-year old building that is home to the Olney Ale House was sold to Two Sibs LLC, led by Selim Kantar, for $1.45 million. As construction progresses, the ale house will have its meeting with Montgomery County’s Alcoholic Beverage Services (ABS) for a liquor license on Thursday, September 19th at 9:30am.
The Good Counsel community is celebrating beloved staff member, Mario Gonzalez, as he turns 70 years old and begins his 37th year working as part of the school’s maintenance staff. The school is hosting ‘Mario Fest’ on Friday, September 13th at 6pm to celebrate him and has announced the Spirit of Mario Scholarship drive to benefit a current Good Counsel student who embodies the spirit of Mario and contributes to the Good Counsel community.
