The Rockville City Police Department has charged a 20-year-old Rockville man following a shooting that occurred late Monday night in the 1100 block of Highwood Road.

Barry Dufek has been appointed as the Rockville City Police Department’s new deputy police chief and officially joined the department on September 29, with a ceremonial swearing-in by the Mayor and Council scheduled in the coming week. Dufek brings 25 years of law enforcement experience, including leadership roles in patrol, investigations, and administration, and most recently served as chief of police in Purcellville, Virginia.

The Rockville City Police Department (RCPD) has named Corporal Robbin St. Clair and Officer Samuel Kim as its latest Officers of the Quarter for their heroic response during a recent medical emergency that saved a resident’s life.
2:24pm Update: MCPD, RCPD, Park Police responded to Rockville High School and determined that it was a swatting call. There is no validity to the report.
The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) shared the following information at 1:55pm on Wednesday afternoon. “@MCPS has placed Rockville High School on lockdown following the report of a person with a firearm near the school. RCPD and MCPD are investigating the validity of the report.”
