The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) reports that during the ninth week of its Summer Traffic Task Force, officers conducted 107 traffic stops resulting in 17 DUI arrests and issued over 300 citations and warnings, with cumulative totals since the initiative began reaching 127 DUI arrests and more than 2,400 total enforcement actions. On Tuesday, June 17, 2025, shortly after 7:00 p.m., Rockville City Police officers responded to Maryvale Park, located in the 800 block of First Street, for a report of an altercation involving a group of juvenile males. The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) referred to the incident as a stabbing.

On June 11, 2025, at 11:15 p.m. the Rockville City Police Department, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, the Montgomery County Police Department and the Montgomery County Division of Fire Rescue Services responded to the 600 block of Blandford St. for a shooting.
Jason West has been appointed as Rockville’s new police chief, City Manager Jeff Mihelich announced on June 4, following a national search and community input process. A 25-year law enforcement veteran, West has served as acting chief since October and previously held leadership roles within the Rockville City Police Department and the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office.
Following the recent fatal shooting of two Israeli Embassy staff members outside the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C., the Rockville City Police Department (RCPD) announced it has increased patrols near synagogues, places of worship, and community centers, and is working with local leaders to support community safety. Similarly, MCPD issued a statement on Thursday, May 22, noting that while there is no known threat, patrols around Jewish institutions have been increased out of an abundance of caution.
