A 55-year-old Florida woman visiting family in Dickerson died Saturday after being shot in a residence on Mt. Ephraim Road.

According to Montgomery County Police, “On Friday, Sept. 12, 2025, at approximately 4:05 p.m., 5th District officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue Service personnel responded to a residence in the 23000 block of Mt. Ephraim Road for the report of a shooting.


On Wednesday, Sept. 3, MCDOT began an emergency closure of Wasche Road from W. Hunter Road to Martinsburg Road in Dickerson to replace failing twin corrugated pipes with twin concrete pipes, with local traffic allowed up to 19754 Wasche Road, a signed detour in place, weekday work hours from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the closure expected to last about three weeks. The Comus Inn is a historic restaurant and event venue located in Dickerson, Maryland, at the base of Sugarloaf Mountain. Established in 1862, the inn has a rich history, originally serving as a stop for travelers and a general store for the local community. Now, it’s launching an ice cream counter on June 12th.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a house at a two-story single-family home on Wasche Rd near W Hunter Rd in Dickerson/Poolesville.

According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, firefighters from multiple MCFRS units responded to the non-hydrant area. The occupants evacuated, but one adult suffered burns and was transported as a Priority 2 patient. The fire was extinguished, and one family was displaced. A tanker fill site was set up on Martinsburg Rd.
