Jason West has been appointed as Rockville’s new police chief, City Manager Jeff Mihelich announced on June 4, following a national search and community input process. A 25-year law enforcement veteran, West has served as acting chief since October and previously held leadership roles within the Rockville City Police Department and the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office.
The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will begin a resurfacing project on MD 28 (Norbeck Road) between MD 586 (Veirs Mill Road) and Bauer Drive in the city of Rockville tonight. Montgomery County has announced two free fireworks celebrations: Germantown Glory on Friday, July 4 at South Germantown Recreational Park and Mid-County Sparkles on Saturday, July 5 at Albert Einstein High School, both starting at 7 p.m. with live music and fireworks set for 9:15 p.m. In addition to the Montgomery County government events, fireworks will also take place at Gaithersburg’s SummerFest on Saturday, June 28 at Bohrer Park and at Rockville’s Independence Day Celebration on Friday, July 4 at Mattie J.T.
