We have recently received inquiries about the canceled appearance by Henry Winkler at Montgomery College’s Robert E. Parilla Performing Arts Center, located at 51 Mannakee St., Rockville. We would like to remind everyone that this event was canceled last month. Originally scheduled for October 29, 2024, the event was later rescheduled to March 11, 2025, before being canceled indefinitely.
The City of Rockville is considering annexing 107.9 acres near the Shady Grove Metro Station to expand city boundaries and support transit-oriented development. A public hearing is scheduled for March 26, with final consideration by the Mayor and Council tentatively set for July 7. (more…)
The Hometown Holidays festival will return to Rockville Town Center in May, featuring two days of local entertainment, food, shopping, and community activities, followed by the city’s annual Memorial Day Ceremony and Parade.
The festival, returning to its original location for the first time since 2019, will have a local, community-based focus with live music, artisan vendors, children’s activities, and food from local restaurants, while the Memorial Day Parade on May 26 will showcase over 60 groups celebrating the theme “Magic in America.”
The State Highway Administration approved Rockville’s request to lower the speed limit on First Street to 35 mph, with updated signage to be installed this month, while the city continues efforts to improve pedestrian safety through Vision Zero projects.
Planned improvements include temporary and permanent pedestrian refuge islands, traffic calming measures, and upcoming public meetings to discuss roadway enhancements and bicycle facilities. (more…)

Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove Medical Center has received a $1 million gift from businessman and philanthropist Conrad V. Aschenbach in memory of his wife, Lois. The gift will help the hospital fund a six-story patient tower, which is currently under construction to upgrade emergency and critical-care spaces.
Ben & Jerry’s will host its annual Free Cone Day on April 8, offering free scoops at participating Scoop Shops worldwide as a gesture of gratitude to its fans. The tradition, which began in 1979, has grown into a global event spanning over 35 countries, with last year’s celebration serving more than 1 million scoops. (more…)
The Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) has announced that a new traffic signal at Woodward High School, located on Old Georgetown Rd. in North Bethesda, is set to enter mandatory 72-hour flash operation on or around Monday, March 10, 2025. Following this initial phase, the signal will transition to full-color activation on or about Thursday, March 13, 2025.
