California Tortilla, commonly known as Cal Tort, has grown from a single Montgomery County, Maryland establishment into a regional fast-casual dining chain serving “California-style” Mexican cuisine. Burrito Elito is the companies loyalty program that became popular in the early 2000s with many in the area carrying the card.

The Orange Crush has officially become Maryland’s state cocktail, a well-deserved recognition for a drink that has become synonymous with Maryland summers. This designation, signed into law by Governor Wes Moore, went into effect on June 1, 2025. During our trip to Ocean City, we visited The birthplace of the Orange Crush: Harborside Bar & Grill.

Lone Oak Brewing Co., home of America’s Best Lite Beer, is celebrating its 5th anniversary with a party on Saturday, June 14th from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. at 5000 Olney Laytonsville Rd. in Olney. The event will feature the MoCoShow, along with local favorites Jimmy’s Famous Seafood– home of America’s Best Crabcake– and Grubbing Hard BBQ.

As you may have been able to tell, one of our editors is on vacation at one of the most popular beach destinations for those in our area. After years of visits and savoring countless slices from different restaurants at every hour, we believe Trattoria Lombardi’s offers Ocean City’s best pizza– or at least, our favorite. The restaurant is located between 92nd and 93rd Streets (but known as Lombardi’s 94th St.) on Coastal Highway in Ocean City, Maryland, has been a staple for Italian cuisine and pizza since 1962. For nearly a century, Thrasher’s French Fries in Ocean City has reigned as the undisputed king of fries in Maryland. Renowned for using the freshest potatoes and frying them in peanut oil, Thrasher’s stands firmly by its tradition of not offering ketchup—a policy clearly communicated by signs at their stands. In 2023, New York’s famous H&H Bagels entered a new era of expansion, with agreements in place for 25 new restaurants, including 10 units in the DC area. Now, the first DC location will open at 601 K Street, NW on Thursday, June 12th– about 6.5 miles away from the Maryland line.
