Kafean Koffee is coming to Westfield Montgomery Mall (7101 Democracy Blvd) in Bethesda. The coffee shop will be located on the lower level of the mall, in the kiosk that was previously home to Moorenko’s.

San Alejo, a Salvadoran restaurant with its first location in Hyattsville, will be expanding to include a Montgomery County location at 7643 New Hampshire Ave in Takoma Park. The restaurant will be taking over the space that was previously home to No. 1 China in Takoma Langley Crossroads.
Sense of Thai, which opened its first location in Ashburn, VA in 2015, and is opening a second location soon in Chantilly, VA, has announced plans to open a new restaurant at Westbard Square in Bethesda, according to a report by The Burn. (more…)
Restaurant industry professionals and their allies gathered Sunday night at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center for the 42nd Annual RAMMYS Awards Gala. Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington announced winners and a range of special distinctions, celebrating excellence in long-standing categories that range from individual professional honors to accolades celebrating culinary concepts and service. The “Hottest Sandwich Shop” award went to Colada Shop, which has locations in D.C., Maryland, and Virginia.

The Lady Vintner is coming to the lower level of the BLVD Forty Four high-rise apartment tower located at 42 Maryland Ave in Rockville. Hamburger Hamlet opened its first location in West Hollywood in 1950 and later opened additional locations in the Los Angeles, Chicago, and Washington D.C. metro areas. The restaurant was started by actor Harry Lewis and his future wife Marilyn Lewis And was named for one of Shakespeare’s most famous characters.

Lil Sumthin’ Sweet is coming to 8563 Fenton St, the former home of Smoothie King that closed permanently a couple years back. A July 27th Grand Opening date has been set.

Aggregate Real Estate Investors has acquired the Montrose Shopping Center retail plaza in Rockville from Rosenthal Properties for $28 million, per a Biz Journals report.
