Permanent signage is up at Chopin Noodle House at 12123 Darnestown Rd in the Shops of Potomac Valley shopping center. It will take over the location that was home to Pho City for 15 years until the restaurant closed at the end of July.

Chopin Noodle House offers a variety of hand pulled noodle soups, including Lanzhou beef noodle soup, traditional beef noodle soup, crispy fish noodle soup, cold noodles, and many others. The menu will also offer appetizers such as cucumber salad, chili oil cabbage, mutton chops and more. A variety of milk teas and iced tea/lemonades will also be available. An opening date for the restaurant is not yet available, but the restaurant has recently opened its first location in Catonsville.


Toosso Pakistani Kitchen has announced that it has closed its Rockville restaurant in Loehmann’s Plaza after 8 years. The restaurant was previously located at 1596 Rockville Pike near the old Pizza CS and Fuddrucker’s restaurants, but had to move due to the development of Twinbrook Quarter. It opened in its recent location at 5290 Randolph Rd in November 2020.

The restaurant left the following message on social media, inviting customers to its Sterling, Virginia location. “Restaurant closed. To our valued customers: Toosso Pakistani kitchen (Rockville) has closed its doors after 8 years. It has been a pleasure to serve the community. Thank you for your patronage and friendship that made us a success. We will miss you all. Please don’t forget to visit our Sterling location 20921 Davenport drive Sterling VA 20165.


Denizens has announced that its Silver Spring taproom will close permanently on Sunday, October 22nd. The announcement was made via a video shared on social media by Denizens co-founder and owner Julie Verrati. Denizens opened at 1115 East-West Highway in Silver Spring back in 2014.

“Our ten year lease has come to an end and that’s the end of an era for us, an end of a chapter. It’s been an incredible ten years in Silver Spring and we’re so grateful for the community here. We’re still making the same high quality beer, high quality service, high quality food that you can grab right here in Riverdale Park, Maryland.” Verratti said in the video, which can be seen below.


Kabob N Karahi at 18232 Flower Hill Way (Previously Aaron’s) in Gaithersburg is hoping to open by the end of the month. Kabob N Karahi is a Pakistani restaurant (that serves some Indian cuisine), and its menu consists of a variety of kabobs, curries, stews, and tandoori naan.

The Cloverly Village Center location at 15521 New Hampshire Ave, Silver Spring., opened in 2008 and has become a staple in Cloverly. Per Kabob N Karahi: “Welcome to Kabob N Karahi, Maryland’s best family restaurant to find fresh, casual, authentic Pakistani-Indian kabob and curry cuisine. KNK is completely a Halal restaurant. We use only Halal meat, house sauces and salads are made fresh daily. We specialize in delicious chicken, beef, lamb, kofta kabobs and tikkas as well as Karahi. We provide catering for all the occasions (Birthday,Wedding and Engagement etc).”


Spirit Halloween is coming to 2210 Veirs Mill Rd., the former CVS location in the Twinbrook Center in Rockville. This is a different location than the nearby Pike Center (where TGI Friday’s is on Rockville Pike) where Spirit Halloween has set up shop in recent years.

The store also recently announced its new Gaithersburg location at the former Pier 1 location (30 Grand Corner Ave) in Rio. Last year, Spirit had an additional Montgomery County location in Burtonsville. During the Halloween season, Spirit operates over 1,400 stores in North America. The Spirit Halloween website is open year-round, offering its in-store products online. The store usually open 30-60 days prior to Halloween.


Andy’s Pizza has opened its first Montgomery County location at 4600 East West Highway– the former site of sandwich shop Booeymonger in Bethesda. Our very own Mr. MoCo stopped by during opening week to buy a few slices and support one of MoCo’s newest businesses. The video and more information can be seen below.

The pizza dough at Andy’s undergoes a 72-hour cold ferment and is cooked in a New York deck oven. The process creates a crispier crust with a chewy interior, and a hint of a sour flavor. Andy’s Pizza will also offers salads, wings, fries, and more. In 2021 Andy’s got 1st place in the International Pizza Challenge™, which has evolved and grown in stature and prize money to become one of the most prestigious pizza-making competition in North America.

Capital Food Fight returns to The Anthem on Thursday, November 9th for the 19th installment of DC Central Kitchen’s raucous night of fighting hunger. The event will feature Montgomery County resident José Andres and Money Muscle BBQ/All Set/Fryer’s Roadside’s Ed Reavis. Tickets to this year’s event, presented by Instacart, go on sale Tuesday, September 5th at capitalfoodfight.org.


Little Blue Menu®, created by Chick-fil-A®, is delighted to announce the opening of its College Park location on Thursday, Sept. 14. A nod to Chick-fil-A Founder S. Truett Cathy’s original blue menu at the first Chick-fil-A location, Little Blue Menu allows guests to order Chick-fil-A classics alongside soon-to-be favorites like wings and burgers. Through digital ordering only, guests can enjoy Little Blue Menu for pick-up, delivery and catering.

“College Park is a hub for innovation, so we can think of no better place to introduce Little Blue Menu and give customers more of what they want,” said L.J. Yankosky, senior director of the innovation and new ventures team at Chick-fil-A. “We can’t wait to serve the community and become an integral part of the local dining scene.”


Butter Chicken House is coming to Montgomery Mall, moving into the space that was recently home to Ya Mon! Island Grill. The Caribbean restaurant, which was located next door to Chick-Fil-A, closed earlier this year. Ya Mon! served jerk chicken, meat, fish, beef patties, along with salads and sides.

Butter Chicken House plans to open on Friday, September 15th, according to Robert Dyer. Per his report, “The internationally-popular dish [butter chicken] from the city of Amritsar will be available as a bowl with rice, as a wrap, or in a combo meal.” Additional information on food court updates at Montgomery Mall, from earlier this summer, can be found here. Laperaux, the Journeyman Chef’s French Bistro, which opened at 18056 Mateny Rd. in February, has been selected for the ‘2023 Best of Germantown Award’ in the Restaurants category by the Germantown Award Program, according to a press release submitted by the owner of Laperaux.

Each year, the Germantown Award Program identifies “companies that we believe have achieved exceptional marketing success in their local community and business category. These are local companies that enhance the positive image of small business through service to their customers and our community. These exceptional companies help make the Germantown area a great place to live, work and play.”


According to a report by Source of the Spring, Willie T’s Seafood Shack at 9326 Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring has permanently closed and will be replaced by Milk & Honey, a southern inspired brunch and soul food restaurant which has locations across DC, Maryland, and Virginia. Both concepts are owned by Thompson Hospitality, the group behind Matchbox (Bethesda, Rockville, and Silver Spring locations in MoCo), Austin Grill and American Tap Room (both previously in MoCo), and Wiseguy Pizza (opening this month at Wheaton Mall.)

Willie T’s began as a pop-up restaurant inside of Austin Grill in Springfield, VA and opened its Silver Spring location in March 2022.  The location was originally going to be a “joint restaurant,” splitting the space with BRB (be right burger), another Thompson Hospitality concept that currently has a location at Dulles airport. Menu items at Milk & Honey include “Chef Sammy’s Award Winning” Shrimp & Grits, Deep Fried Salmon Hash, Chicken & Waffles, and Crab Benedict.
