In the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic’s significant challenges, DJs Victor Alvarez and Carlos Jimenez took advantage of their unexpected free time to chase a long-cherished dream. As the world came to a standstill, they dedicated themselves to making Big Papi’s taco restaurant a reality in the Industry Lane Business Park near Frederick. Now, the restaurant is coming to Montgomery County.
Bouboulina, an American grill influenced by Mediterranean cuisine, will open this March at 915 Meeting St. in Pike & Rose (North Bethesda, MD).
Moby Dick has just opened its most recent location, joining FiveGuys, Chipotle, Java Nation, and more at the Kensington Shopping Center– 10506A Connecticut Ave. Kensington, MD.
Taco Bar at 3 Russell Ave in Olde Towne Gaithersburg has reopened following its closure due to a fire caused by an arson spree in September 2023. Currently in a soft opening phase, the restaurant plans a grand reopening in mid-February. (more…)
Kung Fu Tea will close its location at 11802 Rockville Pike in Pike & Rose after nearly ten years. January 30th will be the last day. The location started as Tutti Frutti.
Washingtonian Magazine has released its 2025 list of “100 Very Best Restaurants” and Maryland restaurants made the list. The iconic Dunkin’ at 2405 Reedie Drive in Wheaton is temporarily closed as it undergoes major renovations. An exact reopening date isn’t available, but the remodeling appears to be extensive for the store that has been there for more than 50 years. Le Macaron opened its Gaithersburg location at 7 Grand Corner Ave. at Rio Lakefront back in December 2023. The restaurant held a grand opening celebration on January 23, 2024 and the City of Gaithersburg proclaimed the date “Le Macaron Day.” To celebrate. The store is giving away a free macaron to the first 500 customers on Wednesday, January 23.
Dumpling District will be taking over the space at 19775 Frederick Rd in Germantown’s Fox Chapel Shopping Center that was most recently home to Bonchon.
