This new venue will bring an authentic Nepalese dining experience to the area when Commas opens later this spring.
Last month we let you know that Kareem’s Lebanese Kitchen is set to make a splash at Gaithersburg’s Rio Lakefront. Now we know the restaurant will be taking over the space formerly occupied by Bach to Rock at 212 Boardwalk Place. An opening timeframe is not yet available.
Roaming Rooster, a local restaurant chain more than a dozen restaurants in the DC Metro area, is in the soft opening phase at its third Montgomery County restaurant at 8537 Georgia Ave. in Downtown Silver Spring– the space that was previously home to Flip’d by IHOP.
Passport Juices, a new juice bar founded by four brothers with roots in Jamaica, has officially opened its doors at Solaire Social, located at 8200 Dixon Ave, Silver Spring, MD 20910. Passport Juices has taken over the stall previously occupied by SOKO Oysters.
In January 2024, we let you know that Mezeh Mediterranean Grill was coming to 18129 Town Center Dr in Olney. After more than a year, signage has now gone up in the windows as construction is set to begin on the interior of the restaurant.
Duke’s Grocery, a London-inspired gastropub, has officially opened its first location outside of DC in Montgomery County’s Potomac Village. With the opening, Duke’s introduces Maryland to its signature “Proper Burger,” consistently ranked among the best burgers in DC and a multiple-time winner of “Best Burger in DC” competitions. Two Montgomery County based businesses– Saints Row Brewing and the La Casita family of restaurants– have joined forces to launch a truly locally inspired Latino beer. The new brew, named El Rancho, is a Central American-style lager featuring a blend of American and Neomexicanus hops. Described as bright, clean, and crisp with a hint of citrus, El Rancho is brewed exclusively at Saints Row Brewing in Olde Towne Gaithersburg.
Commas Food Hall, a new 13,000-square-foot food destination on the third level of Ellsworth Place (8661 Colesville Rd) in Downtown Silver Spring, is slated to open later this spring. One of its featured stalls is Tokoa Cheesesteaks, which local food reviewer “Big Schlim” has rated with his highest honor, “STAMP,” after several visits.
Chick-fil-A’s experimental “Little Blue Menu” test kitchen, located at 7242 Baltimore Ave. in College Park, Maryland, will lay off 91 employees effective May 14 as part of a planned remodel, according to a Work Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) notice filed with the state on March 14.
Buffalo Wild Wings introduced its first ‘Buffalo Wild Wings GO’ (BWWGO) location, a scaled-down version of the restaurant that focuses on the to-go and delivery format, in Georgia back in 2020. Now, the company has signed on for its fourth upcoming location in the county– in Olney.
