Summer Restaurant Week, presented by the Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington (RAMW), returned August 18th and was originally scheduled until August 24th. It has now been extended until the end of the month, August 31st, with plenty of Montgomery County restaurants participating.
An enduring chapter in Wheaton’s dining history has come to a close. Cristina Ristorante Italiano, the beloved neighborhood Italian restaurant that has been a staple for over two decades, closed its doors permanently on Monday after making the decision to not renew the expiring lease.
Sunday night was filled with laughter, gasps, and outright amazement as Maximum Magic Shop (currently located in Potomac) put on an unforgettable show at Give a Hoot Comedy Club in Gaithersburg. The event featured a lineup of local magicians from across the DMV area, leaving the audience thoroughly entertained and, for a couple attendees, literally hypnotized (video below).
Burtonsville bid farewell to its 7-Eleven, located at 15585 Old Columbia Pike, this past spring. The building is set to be demolished as part of the plans for Wawa to open its second Montgomery County location on the current site of 7-Eleven and the adjacent Mattress and More Liquidators (15595 Old Columbia Pike). A representative from Mattress and More Liquidators shared with us that the store is expected to close in October.
Frederick has a new destination for all things sushi and hibachi! Panda Sushi has officially opened its doors at 1220 W Patrick St, Frederick, MD 21703, taking over the space that was formerly a Pizza Hut. The opening was reported by Frederick City Media.
Two Maryland Thai restaurants (both in Montgomery County) earned a spot on Eater DC’s most list of “The Best Thai Restaurants in D.C.” While there are many wonderful Thai restaurants in the county, the publication’s recognition highlights the vibrant and authentic flavors available at these two restaurants just outside the nation’s capital.

In September 2023, we let you know of the planned Dunkin’ location at 17700 Muncaster Road, just off Muncaster Mill Road. The project has faced some delays, with the latest information indicating an ongoing effort to resolve traffic-related permitting issues, but construction continues to progress.
In a state celebrated for its diverse culinary scene, one restaurant stands out as the sole recipient of a prestigious international honor for Italian cuisine. Il Pizzico, a long-standing Italian eatery at 15209 Frederick Rd. in Rockville, Maryland, previously earned a “forchetta” (or fork) from Gambero Rosso, a renowned Italian food and wine magazine. Yelp has compiled a list of “10 surprisingly great restaurants and takeout counters in service stations across the US.” While there are many amazing gas station food spots right here in Maryland, just one made it in Yelp’s national list of “10 Don’t-Miss Gas Station Restaurants 2025.”
