A tavern established in 1750 in Annapolis (Anne Arundel County), a saloon that opened in 1775 (Baltimore), and an inn that opened its doors in Potomac in 1860 (Montgomery County) make up the three oldest restaurants in the state of Maryland that continue to operate today. Per Webster’s, a restaurant is a business place where meals or refreshments may be bought.

Ledo Pizza has been a staple in Maryland since the original Ledo Restaurant opened in Adelphi , MDN(Prince George’s County) in 1955. They are one of the first restaurants to introduce what we call “Maryland Style Pizza” to the area and recently they made a fun post on social media reminding customers that there’s no S in their name. Nearly 2,000 customers, some who have called the restaurant “Ledo’s” for years, responded on the original post and we have some of the most reacted to comments below:

Earlier this year we let you know that TOUS les JOURS, a French-Asian bakery will be taking over the space currently occupied by Corner Bakery in Rio. Corner Bakery’s last day of business in Rio was Thursday, February 22nd. Construction, which included the removal of the clock that was part of the Corner Bakery decor for more than 25 years, began in the early summer and now things look almost ready to go (photos below).

Punta Cana Tropical Grill, a new Dominican restaurant at 9324 Georgia Ave in Silver Spring, is now open. The restaurant is located in the space that was previously home to Tropics Ice Cream & Jerk and our very own Mr. MoCo stopped by this weekend to support and provide a first look (video below).

Back in May we let you know that Dirty Dough is coming to 36B Maryland Ave in Rockville Town Square. The cookie shop will be taking over the location that was the longtime home of Berry Cup, which closed in the summer of 2022. Dirty Dough made an appearance as a vendor at Rockville Town Square’s tree lighting event and let us know at they are aiming for a Wednesday, December 18th opening.

Beth’s, the latest addition to Bethesda’s vibrant dining scene, is set to open its doors on Friday, December 6th. Located in the heart of downtown Bethesda at 4948 Fairmont Avenue, Beth’s will specialize in casual American food and drinks in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.  The name Beth’s is an ode to “Bethesda,” where owners Deniz and Celal Gulluoglu live and currently own and operate ala.

Yelp has released its “Top 50 Places to Eat in the MD Burbs”, focusing on restaurants located in the Maryland suburbs. We are going to look at the top 10 on this list that was created by “Yelp Elites”– a group of reviewers selected based on well-written reviews, high quality photos, a detailed personal profile, and a history of “playing well with others”, according to Yelp. Eight of the top ten restaurants can be found in Montgomery County.
