Fashion retailer Express has announced its filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and plans to close almost 100 of its locations, including the one at Wheaton Mall (11160 Veirs Mill Rd.).

Aldo, a shoe and accessory store for men and women, is opening its third Montgomery County location at the Clarksburg Outlets (featured photo courtesy of @LillyMagillys). Also currently has locations in Montgomery and Wheaton malls. The Clarksburg location is currently hiring and aims to open this fall.
Aldo announced a restructuring in May of 2020 when it filed for creditor protection during the COVID-19 pandemic shutdowns. In 2022 the company announced a successful restructuring, which would “mark the beginning of a new chapter” for the company that has been in business for over 50 years. Current CEO David Bensadoun, whose father Aldo founded the chain in 1972, stated the following in 2022, “It is with great relief that we put this process behind us, and with excitement that we now look ahead.”
The Clarksburg store will be located next to Puma.

The Jolly Shows Carnival will be at the Clarksburg Outlets (22705 Clarksburg Road Clarksburg, MD 20871) from July 12-16. There will be over 30 attractions, including carnival rides, games, and food wagons. According to their website, “We are a new generation of carnival operators who strive to be more progressive and professional. We realize that we must produce a premium product for our customer’s hard earned money. We won’t forget our proud traditions, but we are committed to overcoming the stigmas which have hindered our industry for far too long.” Tickets can be purchased here.
The carnival will be open weekdays 5-11pm, Saturday 1-11pm, and Sunday 3-11pm. Ride tickets cost $1.75 each and unlimited ride wristbands between $25-30.
Baked Potato House, featuring “delicious stuffed potatoes”, is now open in the Clarksburg Premium Outlets, taking over the space that was previously home to Day & Night Cereal Bar. The cereal bar cleared out of the space in May and is expected to open in a new location sometime this summer.
Menu items at Baked Potato House include a “build your own” stuffed potato with toppings such as cheese, sour cream, bacon bits, gyro meat, broccoli, olives, sweet corn, and a variety of sauces, a selection of specialty baked potatoes, ice cream, and lemonade. The menu also features “wet burgers,” an Istanbul-style street burger that has been marinated in a special tomato sauce.
Update: The owner of Day & Night has reached out to let us know that the store will be relocating to a new location this summer.
Day & Night Cereal Bar at the Clarksburg Premium Outlets (22705 Clarksburg Rd) has removed all exterior signage and cleared out the interior after two years at the outlets. The cereal bar was located across from Aldo and between Perfumes 4 U and Fragrance Outlet, in the space formerly occupied by David’s Tea.
Based out of L.A, Day & Night Cereal bar featured bowls of cereal, ice cream, and milkshakes. Menu items included the Unicorn Breath (Fruity Lucky Charms, Fruity Pebbles, whipped cream, and strawberry drizzle) and the Rooooby Snacks (Cinnamon Toast Crunch, graham cracker, Oreo bits, and peanut butter and chocolate drizzles.)

Vineyard Vines, a clothing and accessories retailer, is moving to a permanent location in Clarksburg’s Premium Outlets. Vineyard Vines was previously in a temporary location at the outlets and will open at its new location this Friday, May 19th. The store also has a non-outlet store at Montgomery Mall in Bethesda.

We were told today that Day & Night Cereal Bar at the Clarksburg Premium Outlets will be holding a soft opening on Saturday, May 29th followed by their official grand opening on Monday, May 31st.
Located across from Aldo and between Perfumes 4 U and Fragrance Outlet, they will be in the space formerly occupied by David’s Tea.
Based out of L.A, Day & Night Cereal bar features bowls of cereal, milkshakes, bacon flights, coffees, and cinnamon toast iced lattes.
