Metrorail will open at 5 a.m. to help thousands of runners get to the start line for the 50th Marine Corps Marathon, one of the region’s most celebrated annual events. Trains will run frequently throughout the day, making Metrorail the easiest way to get around and avoid traffic and road closures.

Montgomery County Recreation, along with the cities of Gaithersburg, Rockville, and Takoma Park, has officially endorsed the Children’s Bill of Rights in Sports, developed by the Aspen Institute’s Project Play initiative, which promotes safe, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate youth sports opportunities.

A 25-year-old Silver Spring man, Jerrell Lee Fullwood, was arrested and charged with attempted first-degree rape and first-degree assault after police said he attacked a woman walking to a bus stop on Medical Center Drive early Friday morning.

In a statement released Friday, Governor Wes Moore said the Trump Administration has directed Maryland not to issue SNAP benefits and withheld legally required contingency funds, warning that approximately 680,000 residents, including 270,000 children, may not receive food assistance beginning November 1.
