Rugby fans in the D.C. region have a reason to cheer even louder this summer: several standout players from Old Glory DC, the DMV’s own professional rugby team, will represent the United States as USA Rugby Eagles in a major international showdown. On July 19, 2025, Audi Field in Washington, D.C., will host a historic double-header featuring the USA Men’s National Team against England, followed by the USA Women’s Team squaring off with Fiji. On Saturday, Laurel Police shared that during the city’s Main Street Festival, “officers swiftly intervened when a driver recklessly breached barriers and drove into the crowd.”

Per Laurel Police: “Thanks to their rapid response, no festival-goers were harmed. However, during the incident, one of our officers did sustain minor injuries after being struck by her vehicle.


Students from Watkins Mill High School and Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School won top honors in the 2024–25 Keeping it Safe Coalition video contest, which encourages youth to raise awareness about underage alcohol use through 30-second public service announcements.

Montgomery County has proposed its first-ever Tax Increment Financing (TIF) plan to help fund infrastructure for the $2.8 billion Viva White Oak development, a large-scale mixed-use project in East County expected to bring thousands of jobs, housing units, and new public amenities.
