Maryland State Police are investigating a suspected DUI crash on I-495 in Montgomery County that injured a firefighter after a BMW drove through a lane closure, striking two patrol vehicles and the firefighter, on Friday, September 13.

UPDATE: MCPD found no active threats at Wheaton and Edison High schools. Lockdowns have been lifted at both schools.
Wheaton High School and Thomas Edison High School are both on lockdown Friday morning due to the report of an individual outside of the school campuses with a handgun.
The Forest Estates Farmers Market at Getty Park in Silver Spring will relaunch for its 14th year on Sunday, September 15, with a bi-weekly schedule through November. The law firm Domnick Cunningham & Yaffa will hold a press conference on Saturday, September 14, to announce a lawsuit on behalf of the family of Melanie Diaz, who died in a February 2023 apartment fire while attempting to evacuate with her two dogs, with the family seeking accountability for safety failures at the Arrive Silver Spring complex.
The Takoma Park Police Department has shared that “Last night, two dogs were found unattended in the 6800 block of Laurel Avenue. They were safely picked up by Animal Services and are currently in good care.”
