At 11:08pm on Saturday night, the Montgomery County Police Department shared that 3D officers were dispatched at 10:18pm to the 8800 block of Garland Ave in Silver Spring for the report of a non-contact shooting. According to police, the scene is secure and suspects are in custody.

The Montgomery County Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security will host the free “Ready Montgomery: Emergency Preparedness and Public Safety Fair” on Saturday, Sept. 13, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Wheaton Local Park in Silver Spring, offering safety demonstrations, training, and resources for residents as part of National Preparedness Month. Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a collision involving a car and a truck at Layhill Road and Bel Pre Road in Silver Spring on Friday morning.

According to MCFRS spokesperson David Pazos, crews extricated an adult female passenger from the car, who was transported with non-life-threatening injuries. The two other drivers involved declined transport.


George Erotokritos Galiachatos, a pillar of the local business community, has passed away at the age of 89. He was the longtime owner of The Lincoln Charcoal Inn in Wheaton, MD, a beloved local landmark for many years and one of the first restaurants in Maryland to feature indoor charcoal cooking.
