On January 27, at approximately 9:17 am, Takoma Park Police responded to the area of Maple Avenue and Grant Avenue for a report of a collision involving a 9-year-old juvenile bicyclist.
The Maryland National Capital Park Police (Montgomery County Division) assured residents that signs posted along the Sligo Creek Trail in Takoma Park regarding alligators were not posted by county or state officials and appear to be a prank.

Chief Antonio DeVaul from the Takoma Park Police Department announced the arrest of Pedro Luis Trevino, 34, of Jessup, Maryland, for 2nd Degree Assault, disorderly conduct, larceny, and other offenses.

On January 1, at approximately 10:12 pm, Takoma Park Police responded to the 6900 block of New Hampshire Avenue for the “report of a strong-arm robbery that had just occurred” at 7-Eleven.
On December 23 at approximately 6:40 pm, Takoma Park Police responded to the 1100 block of University Blvd (Capital One Bank parking lot) for an assault that had just occurred involving a knife.
Javier Reyes, 22, of Silver Spring, was found guilty of second-degree felony murder and handgun use in the death of Walter Woods during a drug deal in March 2023 and faces up to 60 years in prison at his February 2025 sentencing. (more…)
7-Eleven has closed its location at 8472 Piney Branch Rd in The Flower Center shopping center at the intersection of Piney Branch Rd and Flower Ave in Takoma Park. The 7-Eleven opened a little more than 15 years ago.
