Butler’s Orchard (22222 Davis Mill Rd. in Germantown) Pumpkin Festival returned this year on September 21st and runs until November 3. This year, admission includes access to Pick Your Own Pumpkins, hay rides, tractor pulls, straw mazes, giant slides, and more, but Butler’s has also produced its “newest, biggest attraction yet”– a new playground.

Earlier this month the Washington Spirit signed rookie Makenna Morris to a new one-year contract through the 2025 season. Morris, who was born and raised in Germantown, MD and grew up playing for Bethesda Soccer Club, joined the Spirit on a one-year deal earlier this year after being selected with the 13th overall pick in the 2024 NWSL Draft.

A Gaithersburg man won $50,000 after purchasing a winning Powerball ticket at the Cedar Grove Store in Germantown, a local spot known for its craft beer and sandwiches, including the popular “David Special,” featuring smoked turkey or ham, bacon, pepperjack cheese, chipotle mayo, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and horseradish bread and butter pickles. Montgomery County Police are investigating a commercial burglary at a Giant Food store in Germantown on September 16, 2024, where three suspects used a stolen Dodge Ram to ram the entrance and attempt to break into an ATM before fleeing without taking any money or property. Detectives have released surveillance footage and are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspects. (more…)

Pumpkin Festival returns to Butler’s Orchard (22222 Davis Mill Road) in Germantown this year from September 21st-November 3.
