NFL Free Agency unofficially opened at noon today, and the Washington Commanders have plenty of money to spend. The team also have the second pick in the 2024 NFL Draft next month and nobody is sure on who the Commanders will take, with the pick likely being a quarterback. Montgomery County native Steven Rales won an Oscar for Best Live-Action Short Film as producer of the film, “The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar.” Rales was born in Bethesda in 1951. He founded Danaher Corporation in 1984 with his brother Mitchell Rales (part owner of the Washington Commanders and founder of Glenstone), where Steven Rales is chairman of the board.
A fallen tree has closed MacArthur Blvd. closed between Picasso Ln. and Belfast Rd. Drivers are advised to seek an alternate route and significant delays are expected. The tree fell earlier in the day on Sunday.
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a call for a 75′ tall tree that fell into a house on the 4200 block of Thornapple St., between Oak Ridge Ave. and Maple Ave., in Chevy Chase on Sunday morning.
The National Cherry Blossom Festival returns from Wednesday, March 20, 2024 – Sunday, April 14, 2024. It’s planned to coincide as closely as possible with the blooming of the trees. The National Park Service (NPS) has predicted peak bloom for the DC area Cherry Blossoms to fall this year between March 23-26.
