While some will argue that Columbia, MD technically isn’t part of the DMV, this food truck taqueria is putting it’s money where it’s mouth is and serving up some of the best birria in the area. DMV Taqueria is in Yelp’s Top 100 places to eat in the US, and it’s there for a good reason. Their staple is the halal birria, but they serve other Mexican and Puerto Rican inspired plates.

DMV

Parts of Maryland just east of Montgomery County were included in the National Weather Service Prediction Center’s “heavy snow” hazard outlook for February 22 and 23, Sunday into Monday. Overnight forecast models have since trended weaker, pushing the potential storm farther out to sea, but forecasters say it remains something to watch.

Gaithersburg

Gaithersburg Police Chief Mark Sroka will retire after 16 years with the City of Gaithersburg Police Department effective March 6, 2026. Chief Sroka was presented with a proclamation proclaiming March 6 as “Police Chief Mark Sroka Day” in the City of Gaithersburg, recognizing his service and dedication to law enforcement and his significant contributions to the Gaithersburg Police Department. The proclamation was presented during the February 17 Mayor and City Council meeting.
