Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services performed an emergency rescue Wednesday evening after a young adult suffered what appeared to be a heat related medical emergency while hiking on Billy Goat Trail A, according to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer.
As of 7:45pm Wednesday evening the patient had been transported via boat to waiting paramedics at a staging area and will likely be transported with Priority 2 injuries.
The investigation by detectives determined that the suspect entered the restaurant and waited in line. While waiting, the suspect became irate and eventually cut to the front of the line. When the cashier told the suspect he needed to wait in line, the suspect pulled a folding knife from his waistband, jumped over the counter and demanded the cashier to give him the money from the register. The cashier then fled to the kitchen. The suspect then removed the register drawer, pried it open with the knife and stole an undisclosed amount of cash.
On Thursday, May 19, 2022, detectives received a tip that identified the suspect as Randall. Through the course of the investigation, detectives were able to connect Randall to the robbery, and obtained an arrest warrant on May 27. Randall was arrested on Wednesday, June 1 and confessed to the armed robbery.
A fatal crash occurred on Northbound Old Georgetown Road (MD-187) near Cheshire Drive and the Wildwood Shopping Center in Bethesda at approximately 4:05PM Wednesday, according to our traffic and public safety reporter Cordell Pugh.
The crash involved an 18 year old cyclist being hit by a motorist, according to Fox 5 DC’s Allison Papson. Per her tweet, the driver remained on the scene and name of the 18-year-old cyclist will be released following proper notification of the family.

The next generation Maryland.gov is designed to deliver what customers need quickly and intuitively. The new design is based on industry best practices, the latest web and mobile technologies, and detailed user analytics to incorporate Marylanders’ preferences and expectations for their state government website.

A new law banning “ghost guns”, which are privately manufactured guns that do not have serial numbers, goes into effect today. Anyone who possesses a “ghost gun” will now be subject to a misdemeanor punishable by up to two years in prison. Individuals who sell or transfer unserialized firearms would be subject to a misdemeanor punishable by up to five years in prison, or a $10,000 fine, and would be no longer be able to own firearms.
While Governor Hogan allowed the legislation to become law, he did not sign the bill. “I appreciate the work you have put into Senate Bill 387/House Bill 425 to address issues surrounding untraceable firearms, and agree that it is a positive step as we seek to stem the tide of violent crime, which is why I am allowing it to take effect, but it does nothing to penalize those who actually pull the triggers on firearms, and deflects away from the need to take decisive action to hold violent criminals accountable,” Hogan said in April.
While it is possible for a hurricane or tropical storm to impact the County, the greater summer weather threats are flooding, hail, lightning strikes, thunderstorms, and strong winds. Thunderstorms can occur singly or in clusters or lines and typically produce heavy rain for a brief period. During severe thunderstorms there is a risk that a tornado could occur.

On Sunday, May 22, 2022, at approximately 8 a.m., 4th District officers responded to the Crisp and Juicy Restaurant in the 3800 block of International Dr. for the report of a burglary.
The investigation by detectives determined that at approximately 3 a.m., the suspect entered the business by prying open a door using an unknown tool. Once inside, the suspect broke into the cash registers and stole an undisclosed amount of money and a safe.
The City of Rockville’s Human Rights Commission will celebrate the sixth annual Rockville Pride with a virtual event on Sunday, June 5, from 2-3:30pm. According to the event’s website, the virtual event will be interactive and will include LGBTQ+ resources and breakout room discussions of LGBTQ+ topics. There will be two breakout room sessions, with four topics to choose from. During each breakout session, participants can choose between these four rooms to join. There will be a prompt for each room and HRC members will moderate these open discussions.
