Germantown

From the U.S. Department of Justice:

Greenbelt, Maryland – A federal criminal complaint has been filed charging Dwight Luis Clarke, age 31, of Germantown, Maryland, for federal charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm, distribution of controlled substances, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.  According to the criminal complaint affidavit, Clarke sold crack cocaine and a heroin/fentanyl mixture, as well as seven firearms, including five privately manufactured firearms, known as “ghost guns.”  The criminal complaint was filed on March 4, 2022, and Clarke was arrested on March 7, 2022.  Upon his arrest, law enforcement seized another apparent semi-automatic privately made firearm from Clarke’s person.  Clarke had his initial appearance in U.S. District Court in Greenbelt yesterday and U.S. Magistrate Judge Charles B. Day ordered that Clarke be detained pending trial.

Temperatures are expected to reach the low 50s today, but before we get there we’ll have to deal with some patchy fog and cold temperatures this morning that could cause a few slick spots. Below you”ll see an update from the National Weather Service:

Patches of dense fog has developed east of the Blue Ridge Mountains early this morning. With temperatures near or below freezing, there may be a few slippery spots during this time. Reduce speed and leave extra travel time and following distance. Be alert for slippery spots, and avoid braking or turning suddenly.


Silver Spring

Detectives with the Metropolitan Police Department’s Major Crash Investigations Unit seek the public’s assistance in identifying and locating a vehicle sought in a fatal hit and run resulting that occurred on Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at the intersection of 18th Street and Florida Avenue, Northwest.

Preliminary investigation revealed that at approximately 8:03 pm, suspect entered the victim’s unoccupied vehicle in the 1800 block of Vernon Street, Northwest. The suspect attempted to flee the scene in the vehicle and struck the victim at the listed location. The suspect then fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle. DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene and found that the victim displayed no signs consistent with life. The victim remained on scene until transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.


Bethesda

South Korea-based Bonchon, a Korean fried chicken concept with 115 U.S. locations, has signed an agreement with JSM Development LLC to open six stores in Maryland and Washington, D.C. The first will open by February 2023, according to FastCasual.com

Source of the Spring reports that three of the new locations will be in Montgomery County; in Bethesda, Silver Spring, and Wheaton.


Bethesda

Sergio Koyangbo, 20, of Bethesda, was ordered to be held without bond at his hearing this afternoon in District Court for Montgomery County, according to the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office,

Koyangbo is facing first-degree murder charges for the stabbing death of his stepfather, 46-year old David Beasley.

The Washington Commanders have found their new starting quarterback. ESPN’s Adam Schefter has reported the following trade terms:

The 29 year old quarterback was drafted by the Philadephia Eagles with the 2nd pick of the 2016 NFL Draft. He played for the Eagles for five seasons before the Indianapolis Colts traded a 1st round pick for him last year. He went 9-8 with 28 total touchdowns and just 7 inteceptions.
